After a decades-long cinematic journey, veteran actor, Richard Mofe-Damijo, better known as RMD, is making his long-awaited return to live theatre this June at the Woolwich Fireworks Factory in London, United Kingdom. It will be his first stage play since 1987.

According to a statement sent to Sunday Scoop, the production demonstrates SUMI Group’s dedication to lifting African narratives onto global platforms, and RMD’s theatrical comeback cements the project’s landmark status.

“It elevates our mission to bridge African storytelling with universal human truths,” it said.

It added that the play centres on Adenike (Idia Aisien), whose poignant struggle between love, ambition, and desire unfolds against the backdrop of her fraught relationship with her father, Adebayo (RMD). The trailer teases electrifying scenes of late-night rendezvous with husband Kunle (Kunle Remi), juxtaposed with tender domestic moments, Also staring actors like Tobi Bakre, Otunba Akin Lewis, Tomi Ojo, and Ronke Ojo, it is said to blend minimalist staging with vibrant Lagos energy.

Meanwhile, the actor had recently premiered his Glo-sponsored movie, Radio Voice, in Lagos.

At that event, he noted that Globacom has carved a niche as the biggest corporate supporter of Nigeria’s entertainment industry.

The company has signed on many musicians, actors and comedians as brand ambassadors, sponsored several entertainment reality shows including X Factor, Glo Naija Sings, Battle of the Year and Dance with Peter, and also hosted several music and comedy shows across Nigerian cities to avail talents in the industry the grace to their gifts.
