Travel technology giant, Wakanow Nigeria, has restated its commitment to empowering Nigerians with new income opportunities through the travel business, as it hosted participants at its Affiliate Forum held on Friday, April 25, 2025, at the Nigerian-British Chamber of Commerce, Lekki Phase 1, Lagos.
The event, themed “Sell Travel & Become a Millionaire,” focused on training prospective trade partners on how to leverage Wakanow’s technology to earn sustainable income by selling travel services.
Speaking at the forum, the Chief Executive Officer of Wakanow Nigeria, Adenike Macaulay, emphasised the significance of creating alternative economic pathways for Nigerians amid current socio-economic challenges.
“At Wakanow, we believe that travel is not just about moving from one place to another; it is a viable economic tool for empowerment,” Macaulay said.
“Given the prevailing economic realities, where inflation and unemployment continue to impact livelihoods, initiatives like the Wakanow Affiliate Programme provide a real, practical way for individuals to build wealth, support their families, and contribute meaningfully to the economy,” she added.
Macaulay stressed that beyond providing access to flight bookings, hotel reservations, and travel add-ons, Wakanow was equipping affiliates with the skills, digital tools, and customer support required to thrive as entrepreneurs in Nigeria’s evolving digital economy.

Participants at the forum were taken through intensive training sessions covering how to use the Wakanow Affiliate Portal, how to leverage Wakanow’s proprietary technology for ease of selling, marketing strategies for customer acquisition, and techniques for maximising commissions through diversified travel product offerings.
Some attendees described the session as “eye-opening” and expressed optimism about the prospects of earning steady income through the platform.
In her remarks, Shola Ipinmoroti, Senior Vice President, Commercial at Wakanow, noted that the programme was designed to ensure affiliates could “start their journey into the travel business without the heavy financial and operational burdens that typically come with setting up an agency or building proprietary technology.”
“Our vision is simple: to democratise access to the travel business for every willing Nigerian,” Ipinmoroti said.
Wakanow’s Affiliate Programme allows individuals, businesses, and agencies to earn by directly selling travel products via personalised portals linked to Wakanow’s rich product inventory.
The forum is part of the leading travel agency’s broader strategy to deepen its market reach through trade partnerships while also contributing to addressing Nigeria’s unemployment challenges by creating entrepreneurial opportunities.
Following the Lagos event, Wakanow will take the Affiliate Forum to Ibadan on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at the Mauve 21 Events Centre, Ring Road, Ibadan, from 10:00 am, providing more aspiring entrepreneurs with the opportunity to be trained and empowered.
The event also featured interactive sessions, practical demonstrations, and networking opportunities for participants.
In a related development, Wakanow, under its CSR arm Wakacares, demonstrated its commitment to community well-being with the recent sponsorship of the “H₂O Wellness Campaign: Hydrate for Health,” an initiative that distributed 20,000 bottles of water across Lagos to mark World Water Day on March 22, 2025.
The campaign, spearheaded by the “Hydrate for Health” organisation, targeted high-traffic areas, offices, and malls, enlightening Lagosians on the importance and benefits of drinking water and advocating for improved access to clean water.
Reiterating the company’s commitment to initiatives and issues that uplifts communities, Macaulay stated that: “Access to clean water is a fundamental human right, and we are proud to have played a part on World Water Day, ensuring that Lagosians are sensitised on the benefits of staying hydrated and advocating for better water systems that cater for all residents. This initiative aligns perfectly with our vision of a healthier, more sustainable society.”
Convener of the H₂O Wellness Campaign, Karz Janet, expressed gratitude for Wakanow’s support, noting that the sponsorship was instrumental in the campaign’s success.
The campaign not only provided immediate relief to thousands but also drew attention to the broader challenges of water accessibility in Lagos, reinforcing Wakanow’s position as a socially responsible brand actively addressing critical societal needs.
